Accommodations within walking distance from the reception site are highly recommended. Unfortunately there aren’t amazing 5 star (heck even 3 star) options in Downtown Fort Bragg. However, the slightly strange or not so fancy walkable accommodations are all part of the salty Fort Bragg experience. Stay safe, stay close.
Walkable Recommendations:
Go for a walkable classic Motel. Check out: The Baymont by Wyndham or The Travelodge by Wyndham.
Check out the interesting but cozy Colonial Inn or give the County Inn a phone call (literally call them).
Keep your eyes on AirBnB, new spots have been popping up occasionally, but they tend to book fast.
Longer Walk Beachfront Option!! (approx. 1 mile walk):
The Beachcomber Motel and Spa, overlooking the Pudding Creek Beach is a great option if you don’t mind a slightly longer walk. This location would require a 20ish minute walk over the gorgeous Pudding Creek Trestle Bridge and through quiet neighborhood roads to get the The Weller House (or Downtown Fort Bragg). Perfect for an adventurous wedding guest.
We can’t emphasize this enough, if you plan to drive after the reception please ensure you have a sober driver. Small town cops are no joke and although Fort Bragg is awesome you don’t want to return for a court date.
Fort Bragg Hotel Recommendations:
Mendocino Hotel Recommendations:
There are also value options in Mendocino. Check out the quirky Mendocino Hotel and The Hill House Inn.
Rental Homes (not on AirBnB)
Well, nope, not really.
Unless you are an avid camper fully prepared to deal with the cold and potentially dreary weather we really would not recommend camping as an alternative to a hotel or AirBnB.
The Northern California coast can be harsh and the locals don’t call August “Fogust” just for fun.
Absolutely want to camp, check out the glamping situation at Mendocino Grove and make sure you’ve got a sober driver.

I wouldn’t say we necessarily have a dress code, certainly not black tie.. but jeans aren’t really the look we’re thinking of either. After some research on the Google machine, we’re landing on “Dressy Casual”. Look it up.
Most importantly plan for a few options and lots of layers. We can’t say it enough, August on the NorCal coast is likely to be cold. Even if we get a bright sunny afternoon you’re going to want to bring a jacket. PLUS…. don’t forget there is a bit of walking involved to get to the ceremony. High heels are an absolute No No.
Dressy Casual.
