GETTING HERE

Flights.

San Francisco, Oakland, and Sacramento International Airports are great options for fights. Please keep in mind the flight into the Bay Area is only the beginning of the journey.

From each of these airports you have an adventurous 3.5 hour drive to get to the Mendocino Coast.

The Drive.

The drive from the Bay Area to the Mendocino Coast is beautiful but adventurous. We recommend making this drive in the daylight and planning a few stops if time allows.

Scroll down for recommended driving routes and favorite spots along the way.

Recommended Route.

Anderson Valley Adventure Route US-101 N to CA-128 W to CA-1 N (3.5 hrs min.)

The most direct but it’s certainly not lacking in scenery. This drive meanders through Anderson Valley wine country followed by dense redwoods before popping you out on the scenic Mendocino Coast.

Alternate Route.

Pacific Coast Hwy Adventures US-101 N, Exit 445B to CA-1 N (7 hrs min.) US-101 N, Exit 479 to CA-1 N (4.5 hrs min.)

The Pacific Coastal Highway (CA-1) is full of twists, turns, scenic stops, and dramatic views. Be prepared for adventure and keep in mind the more mileage you dedicate to exploration on CA-1 the longer the drive time.
